We recently announced the remarkable lineup for Greenway Supernova, December 9-11, 5-9PM at the Greenway Plaza & Station. Supernova features 12 light-based artworks, a craft market, and local music.

Call for Board Members: 2022-2025 Term

Help ensure that the Greenway is a safe, active, and vibrant public space. Friends of Lafitte Greenway is seeking nominees for our Board of Directors. Board members will be elected to a 3-year term beginning January of 2022.

We ask that you are willing to work as a team and openly share ideas. Additionally, we seek candidates with any or all of the following attributes:

  • Knowledge and connections to the communities along the Lafitte Greenway.
  • Racially diverse applicants.
  • Leader in the local business community.
  • Background in economic development and infrastructure planning.
  • Commitment to helping Friends achieve its fundraising goals through network development and personal giving.
  • Access to diverse political and community networks.
  • Ability to serve as an active, engaged board member for one 3-year term.      
  • Prior participation with Friends of Lafitte Greenway as a member or volunteer is appreciated.

 

Beyond the Greenway: Louisiana Bootlace Trail

Did you know that the Lafitte Greenway is a piece of an ambitious project to connect bicycle trails around the state as part of the Louisiana Bootlace Trail Network? Over the course of 100 miles and 12 parishes, riders will one day be able to explore the cities, towns, swamps and forests from Baton Rouge to the Mississippi Gulf Coast all on their bikes. Lopez Street Bridge Progress

Greenway Meadows 2022

We are thrilled to announce that Friends of Lafitte Greenway has been awarded a $31,000 grant from the Coypu Foundation to support native meadow planting on the Greenway in 2022. Stay tuned for more news and blossoms as this project moves forward next year. Thank you to the Coypu Foundation for their support.

Picnic on the Greenway is described as “bold, lush and floral as the Greenway itself,” half of the proceeds will go to us to support the Greenway’s projects and programs.
