Basketball court mural coming this summer

This summer, the BELite youth artists are transforming the Greenway's basketball court with a new on-court mural! Jalen Gray, a community member and basketball player, brought this idea to Friends of Lafitte Greenway and NORD, and we have been thrilled to work with and support Jalen to accomplishing this vision.

The site preparation will begin in July and include a period of court closure. Stay tuned for updates. Posted signage will inform the public of court closure.

This project has been made possible by Sneaker Politics, Jaxson Hayes, United Way, Baptist Community Ministries, and Neel Choudhury.

Discover the trail

New Greenway maps have been installed along the trail to help you find your way. They highlight trail amenities such as public bathrooms and playgrounds, and how to get around town using the trail. Use these maps to plan your next adventure through the city, get active with our multiple fitness parks, and commute to work and back.

Thank you to the Louisiana Healthy Communities Coalition for supporting these maps.

What's growing on the Greenway

the Greenway's new pollinator meadows at N. Galvez are germinating. SPROUT NOLA planted sun hemp, a cover crop, to outgrow weeds and put nutrients into the soil in preparation for our wildflower mix. Check out Greenway Grow! to learn about our wildflower meadows.

Thank you to the Coypu Foundation Trust established by John S. McIlhenny for supporting the Greenway meadows.
