Blue Bikes Pop Up

Did you know that Blue Bikes are coming back to New Orleans by the end of the summer? Blue Bikes will be popping up at our Hip Hop Cardio class this Thursday, 6PM at the Greenway Plaza. Come learn about bikeshare, the Blue Bikes For All reduced fare program, and demo ride a new pedal-assist e-bike!

The Blue Bikes program paused at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic due to a change in the out-of-state corporation that managed the bikeshare system. For more information, you can check out this Nola.com article by Jessica Williams. Blue Bikes is now run and operated by Blue Krewe, a local community-based nonprofit organization that is working to relaunch the bikeshare program by September 1st. For more information, please visit bluekrewe.org

Greenway Guests

In this Greenway Gazette section, we're highlighting people who use, love, and support the Greenway!

Meet Leslie Addison and George Yerger! They are photographers and mixed media artists from New Orleans with works in multiple museums including The Ogden Museum of Southern. Check out their photography here

We love the Greenway! We walk it every day. We especially like that it brings our diverse community together in a positive, upbeat way. It’s a great environmental asset too with all the native plants and abundant tree plantings.”

New Green Infrastructure Park Near the Greenway

The Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans (SWBNO) announced that it will be creating a new green infrastructure park a block from the Greenway. Located across Norman C Francis Parkway from Bayou St. John, between Orleans Avenue and Toulouse Street, the park will monitor water quality and feature stormwater educational signage. Our close partners Dana Brown & Associates was awarded the contract for design and construction. Stay tuned for updates on public workshops and outreach.
