Greenway Fest: Postponed & Transformed

Friends of Lafitte Greenway's team has been working closely with City officials and health experts to monitor the spread of Coronavirus in Louisiana. Today, we have the opportunity to curb the spread of the virus, support public health, and relieve pressure on our healthcare system by postponing and transforming Greenway Fest, originally scheduled for Saturday, March 21st.

Spread the Fest - Not the virus

This year only, Greenway Fest will be transformed into Greenway Festivities this summer/fall: a series of music, arts, and cultural celebrations. Greenway Festivities will take the best of the Fest and spread it out throughout the season and along the trail.

Stay with us, and stay tuned as Festivities ideas take shape. Here are some early teaser ideas:

  • The Greenway’s 5th Birthday Party
  • Gospel & Glory Kite Day
  • A bigger and better Halloween Spooktacular
  • Latin Dance Night
  • Roller Disco

The Old Brake Tag Station to the New Greenway Pavilion

On Tuesday, we joined Mayor Cantrell, NORD, and City officials in celebrating the ribbon cutting of the Lafitte Greenway Pavilion: the City’s redevelopment of the dilapidated Brake Tag Station building on the Greenway at N. Lopez into a community space. When the Festivities take shape this summer and fall, the Pavilion joins the Great Lawn as a perfect spot to spread the Fest.
