RAIN PLAN

We’re not afraid of a little rain! Here’s the plan for the 11th Annual Hike and Base Camp Block Party on Saturday, March 25th:

Take a Hike -

Rain or shine (unless there are thunderstorms), registration will be held at Lemann Playground at 9:30 AM. Free guided Hikes have been moved up 30-minutes to begin at 10:00 AM. Now is your chance to see the Greenway’s stormwater management features in action!

  • Hike Meeting Location - 9:30 AM at Lemann Playground, 628 N. Claiborne Ave (Immediately riverside of Claiborne on Greenway trail).

  • Parking - Free parking is available at the Mahalia Jackson Theater Parking Lot, accessible from Basin St. Shuttles will return Hikers from Second Line to Mahalia Jackson Parking Lot, 12-3 PM.

  • Thunderstorms Plan - In the event of thunderstorms, the walking portion of the Hike will be canceled, and all activities will be moved to Second Line Brewing Party (11am start). We will announce thunderstorm cancellation by 8:00 AM on Saturday via email, social media, and posts on lafittegreenway.org/hike2017.

Base Camp Block Party -

Ready to party? We’ve moved all of the Hike’s musical performances to Second Line Brewing. To make room for our amazing lineup, we’re starting an hour early! Join us 11 AM-2 PM inside the brewery and under the tent at Second Line Brewing for a free packed day of musical performances, food trucks, and celebration, featuring over 20 health, environmental, and neighborhood organizations!

  • Location - 11 AM - 2:00 PM at Second Line Brewing, 433 N. Bernadotte
  • Musical Lineup - 11 AM TBC Brass Band |  11:30 AM Washitaw Nation | 12 PM Congo Square Preservation Society | 12:30-2:30 Second Hand Street Band

  • Getting There - End your Hike and Second Line and take the shuttle back, or skip the Hike and meet us at the block party. Limited street parking is available.

Green Bus Tours from Second Line - Want to learn about the Greenway while keeping those hiking boots dry? We’re adding Greenway bus tours, led by our trained Trailblazers, and they’re free!

  • Location - Bus tours start and end at Second Line Brewing.

  • Time - Tours will depart at 12:30 PM and 1:30 PM, and will be 30-45 minutes.

Shuttles - Shuttles from Second Line to the Mahalia Jackson Theater Parking Lot will run from 12-3 PM. In the event that the walking portion of the Hike is cancelled due to thunderstorms, shuttles will be canceled, but bus tours will continue to run.
