Help select the first public art installation on the Lafitte Greenway at the "Living with Water" Civic Design Pitch on Monday, March 23rd. The Civic Design Pitch is a live competition put on by Propeller and the Arts Council of New Orleans as part of the 2015 Water Challenge and New Orleans Entrepreneur Week.
In January, the Arts Council and Propeller issued a call to artists to propose designs for a $25,000 art installation for the Lafitte Greenway at Jefferson Davis Parkway on the theme of Living with Water.
The three finalists—Jennifer Blanchard (Contraflow), Michel Varisco (Turning), and Amy Stelly & Darryl Reeves (Drop in the Bowl)—will pitch their pieces to the public during the 2015 Water Challenge. The winner will be determined by an audience vote following feedback from a critical panel, including David Waggonner, principal of Waggonner & Ball Architects, Councilmember Susan Guidry, Bill Gilchrist, Director of Place-Based Planning for the City of New Orleans, and Sophie Harris, Executive Director of Friends of Lafitte Corridor.
Water Challenge Day continues with great afternoon sessions including Entrepreneurial Opportunities in Water presentations, the Water Challenge Business Pitch, and the PitchLocal Happy Hour. Click here for more information on the 5th Annual Water Challenge.
