We’re excited to partner with NORD for an Easter Egg-stravaganza event on the Greenway. Community partners will be joining us on the trail for information and giveaways. Bring your little ones for lots of fun. Meet us at the drive-through giveaways and out on the trail!

Our 2021 Spring Fitness Series is finally here. Join us, starting this week for FREE fitness classes 3x a week at the Greenway Great Lawn.

Get Rewards for Getting Fit

Get Fit Rewards has arrived! Come to three Get Fit classes and get $20 ($40 for SNAP recipients) for use at any Crescent City Farmers Market or Refresh Farmers Market! Attend a class and receive our “Carrot Card” and a hole punch. Bring it back for your next two classes and the reward is yours!

Join Friends of Lafitte Greenway and NORD for a free screening of Disney Pixar's Onward! Come out for this family-friendly, outdoor event. Bring blankets and chairs to sit on, snacks, masks, and friends and family!

Streets Team Office Hours

Team member Camly Tram will be hosting office hours for volunteers this Friday from 11:30am to 3pm. Have extra time on a Friday? Want to lend a hand? This is a lowkey way to help with our outreach and other programming needs.

WHEN: Friday, March 19, 11:30am - 3pm

WHERE: 2200 Lafitte Street, come to our side door by the garden beds

WHAT:

• Pick up flyers to bring to your local coffee shop, workplace, organizations, etc. to get the word out;
• Drop off giveaways for Easter (toys, candy, etc.);
• Drop off books for the Sojourner Truth lending library (kids books);
• Chalk on the trail for Get Fit and Easter;
• and more! 

What is Streets Team? These are our dedicated, tried and true volunteers. Anyone can join and go the extra mile for the Greenway. You don't have to be on Streets Team to stop by on Friday.

Little Library for Little Ones 

Our friends at the Sojourner Truth Neighborhood Center have unveiled a new Little Library. Dedicated by the children’s author Monique Lorden, you can find it at the STNC playground, where North Miro Street meets Lafitte Avenue. Drop off a few books or bring your own child to discover their next new read.

What's Going on With Lindy Boggs?

The St. Margaret’s foundation’s plans to redevelop the former Lindy Boggs Medical Center into a nursing home have been dealt a setback by the coronavirus. While renovation was expected to finish up this year, the property by the Greenway on Norman Francis Parkway and Conti Street has remained vacant. Nevertheless, the foundation still hopes to push their vision forward when the opportunity arrives. Read more here.
