Fitness Program Coordinator

The Fitness Program Coordinator will coordinate Friends of Lafitte Greenway’s (Friends) free outdoor community fitness classes on the Lafitte Greenway, including managing fitness instructors, promoting classes within the community through digital and in-person outreach, setting up, breaking down, managing participant data collection and input, and representing Friends at the classes. We offer free weekly fitness classes to connect Greenway neighbors to health, the Greenway, and each other.  More information is at

JOB TYPE: Part-Time, Seasonal

HOURLY RATE: $16.00/hour. No benefits are included with this part-time position.



Spring (March 7 - April 28) - Approx. 9-12 hours/week

  • Mondays 5pm-7:30pm
  • Tuesdays 5pm-7:30pm
  • Wednesdays 5pm-7:30pm
  • Additional 3 hours weekly, flexible schedule - Outreach, Coordination, Data Management
  • Make up classes as needed

Summer  (May-August) - Approx.5 hours/week

  • Mondays 5-7:30pm Yoga 
  • Additional 2 hours weekly, flexible schedule - Outreach, Coordination, Data Management
  • Make up classes as neeed

Fall (September-October) - Approx. 9-12 horus/week

  • Mondays 5pm-7:30pm
  • Tuesdays 5pm-7:30pm
  • Wednesdays 5-7:30pm

Essential Job Duties & Functions:

  • Program Coordination
    • Be the face of Friends of Lafitte Greenway at fitness classes by welcoming participants, ensuring all participants sign in, and giving introductory and closing remarks at each fitness class. 
    • Set up and break down class equipment on the Greenway before and after class. This includes preparing and printing sign in sheets, loading golf cart with program supplies such as a tabe, tent, and water cooler, etc., setting up audio system, returning all equipment and ensuring equipment is charged for the next class.
    • Support coordination of Blue Bikes partnership
    • Manage implementation of program procedures and safety protocols, including COVID safety measures
    • Manage rain call procedures by tracking weather, informing instructors, and informing the public through social media, email, and on-site signs
    • Support planning and coordination of community-building activities at fitness classes
  • Program Sustainability
    • Complete data entry following each class, and support data analysis.
    • Document classes with photos.
    • Ensure participants complete a post-class survey
  • Marketing & Outreach
    • Prepare email announcements and social media posts
    • Distribute program flyers to area homes and businesses, and conduct word-of-mouth outreach to residents and trail users
    • Create and distribute content for social media and email marketing

Required Qualifications:

  • Energetic & passionate about the Lafitte Greenway
  • Strong communication skills; a people person
  • Computer skills: data management, social media, and email
  • Reliable & punctual 
  • Technology familiarity or the ability to learn: managing the sound system setup
  • Ability to lift 50 lb pop-up tent
  • Personal Phone 
  • Flexible schedule, and availability on evenings and weekends
  • Ability to show up on time regardless of weather


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Customer service experience
  • Community roots in the neighborhoods surrounding the Lafitte Greenway
  • Access to personal transportation
