Introducing our 2021 Greenway Ambassadors
We are excited to announce that we have welcomed this year’s Greenway Ambassadors class.
Meet John, Tapica, Jeffrey, Nakeetha, Vanessa, Erica, and Layla. You’ll be seeing them as they get involved with supporting the Greenway and creating their Ambassadors project!
We’ve hit the ground running with three ambassadors trainings. One of these trainings was a tour led by Ramiro Diaz from Waggoner and Ball and Danielle Duhe of Dana Brown & Associates, highlighting stormwater infrastructure. We talked about New Orleans’ canals, pumping stations, and green infrastructure parks that represent the past, present, and future of water management in the city, and the Greenway’s role in our city’s relationship with water. Rob Henig Bell of Bike Easy shared about the Complete Streets Coalition and approaches to community organizing.
Thank you to the Foundation for Louisiana for making this program possible.Read more

The North Lopez pedestrian bridge will begin construction soon! We are grateful the city is building an essential, safe access point to the Greenway and its surrounding neighborhoods. Construction is set to begin soon and finish up in late summer.
DPW hosted a preconstruction meeting on Feb. 11, 2021. At the preconstruction meeting, Josh Scott, the DPW Project Manager, confirmed the bike and pedestrian trail will remain open during construction with detours created if needed. They will also check with engineers to ensure the culvert in the bioswale will allow for the same level of drainage as present.
