The Lafitte Greenway route has a rich history of over 200 years as a transit route and integral part of the water infrastructure for the City of New Orleans. Learn more about it in our Walking Workshops!

The goal of the Walking Workshops is to educate the community about the history and culture of the Lafitte Greenway, and its sustainable stormwater management features. Beginning at Basin St. Station, participants will be led on a guided walking tour of the Lafitte Greenway to Jefferson Davis Parkway. Participants will be given the option of completing the walk of the length of the Greenway, returning via RTA Canal St. Streetcar line (token provided) or walking back to the starting point.

The workshops are geared toward Greenway users- young and old, tourists and locals alike. Participants should be able to comfortably walk 2 miles, or have the necessary supportive equipment to do so safely (wheelchair, stroller, etc).

*If you are arriving by car, please park in the lot adjacent to the Lafitte Greenway (near the basketball courts, furthest to the right as you enter Basin St. Station's property.)
