The below announcement was issued by the City of New Orleans Department of Public Works.

The Department of Public Works’ construction contractor, Hard Rock Construction, will begin improving portions of the Jefferson Davis Parkway Bicycle and Pedestrian Path between Gravier St. and Orleans Ave. on Tuesday, January 27, 2015.

The approximately $110,000 project is funded by a Federal Recreational Trails Grant and City-bond funds. The scope of work includes replacing concrete panels, and reconstructing/installing Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps  within the project limits. The ground adjacent to the path will be re-leveled and uneven sidewalks connecting the paths will be replaced as part of this project.

Construction is scheduled to last approximately four weeks. During construction sections of the path will be closed to both pedestrian and bicycle traffic.  Alternative routes for bicyclists include shared bike lanes and sidewalks on  Jefferson Davis Parkway  The contractor will make every effort possible to minimize interruption of the path.

Please use caution when driving, cycling or walking near active construction sites. Thank you in advance for your continued patience.
