Friends of Lafitte Greenway has partnered with Bike Easy and other New Orleans organizations to create the Claiborne Corridor Ambassador Program (CCAP). This is a community-driven campaign that advocates for safe, equitable, and affordable transportation options within the Claiborne Corridor.

The CCAP program aims to create a more inclusive process for public engagement, particularly with regards to decision-making processes concerning New Orleans’ public spaces, streets, and transportation options.

The first round of Ambassadors officially began training on January 13th, 2016. This training was followed by a community listening session on January 18th where community members and partners came together to discuss potential transportation issues and solutions within the Claiborne Corridor. The discussion was aimed at helping to inform the efforts of the Ambassadors as they implement community-driven campaigns to build streets in New Orleans that create great places to live and provide safe and accessible transportation options to all people.

Community members who become Ambassadors will participate in a campaign training and develop their own project to engage other residents around perceptions of transportation safety on the streets through a community-based advocacy campaign.

If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a Claiborne Corridor Ambassador in the next session which begins in May of 2016 , click here to learn more about the Claiborne Corridor Ambassador Program (CCAP).
